A Tutor Centre like St. Ronald's is not a registered school. We assist parents and students with their chosen homeschool curriculum or specific subjects. Schools must register with the provincial Department of Education. At a Tutor Centre the legal responsibility to register the child as home-educated rests with the parent.
Yes. If your child is between the ages of 7 and 16 you are required to register them as a homeschooled learner with the Department of Education. Homeschooling has been legal in South Africa since 1996. We can point you to the relevant information and forms.
We support learners from Grade 1 through to Grade 12. Our aftercare is also available for Grade 1 to Grade 12 students.
We support CAPS, IEB, Cambridge and the American GED. Popular providers we work with include Impaq, Think Digital Academy, Teneo, Praxis, CambriLearn, Mos Wereldwyd, Brainline and various GED providers.
Our monthly Tutor Centre fee is currently R 3,200 plus a once-off enrolment fee (typically R 1,500). Aftercare is R 1,250 per month. You also pay fees directly to your chosen curriculum provider. See our Fees page for examples and always request a current quote.
Yes. Aftercare for Grade 1 to Grade 12 includes lunch and juice at 13:30, snacks at 15:30, a compulsory homework session from 14:30–15:30, and supervision until 18:00. Holiday care is also available (with specific closed periods).
Yes. We provide focused extra classes in Mathematics, English and Afrikaans to help learners strengthen these core subjects. These sessions are ideal for catching up or extending understanding.
We open at 06:30 for early drop-offs. The academic programme typically runs from 08:00 to 12:30 (some online students continue until around 14:30). Aftercare runs until 18:00. You may bring and collect your child at times that suit their academic progress.
Absolutely. Although we are based in Brackenhurst, Alberton, Germiston & Johannesburg South, we welcome learners from the wider Alberton and surrounding areas who need structured Home School Support.
We send you an email with the fee agreement, code of conduct and a link to our online management system. You complete the forms, return them, and pay the enrolment fee to secure the place. You also register separately with your chosen curriculum provider. We guide you through both steps.
Yes. When following a CAPS curriculum through recognised providers, learners receive normal term report cards that are valid at any school in South Africa.
Yes. We specialise in helping children with ADHD flourish in a smaller, more structured environment. We also support potential sports stars by offering flexibility so they can balance training with academic progress.
Tutor Centres generally operate with significantly lower ratios than mainstream schools. We aim for small groups (often no more than 10 learners per group) or one-on-one support where needed, ensuring higher individual attention.
For many families the GED is an excellent, more affordable, internationally recognised alternative to a South African National Senior Certificate. It consists of four subject exams and is accepted by many universities and employers worldwide. We can advise whether it suits your child’s goals.
This depends on the curriculum provider. Some packages include books and materials; others require separate purchases. We will clarify exactly what is included when you choose a specific provider and package.

Aftercare remains available during most school holidays from 06:30 to 18:00. The centre is closed on public holidays and for a period over the December/January festive season (approximately 10 December to 7 January).
