One of the first decisions families face when starting Home School Support is which curriculum to follow. At St. Ronald's we work with all the major options and help parents match the curriculum to the child rather than forcing every learner into the same box.
The national Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement is the most common route. It leads to the National Senior Certificate (NSC) and is widely understood by universities and employers in South Africa. Providers such as Impaq and Think Digital Academy offer both self-paced and more structured online versions.
The Independent Examinations Board route is academically rigorous and highly regarded. It is often chosen by families who want a stronger academic challenge. Providers include Praxis, Teneo and Mos Wereldwyd.
Cambridge International qualifications are recognised worldwide. This path suits families who may move overseas or who prefer a British-style curriculum.
The GED is a cost-effective, internationally accepted secondary certificate made up of four subject exams. For many learners it is a practical alternative to a full South African matric, especially when budget or time is a factor.
